POWDER
OVERVIEW
Powder.
A sports game designed for controllers.
Experience freeride skiing as you race down the mountains. Spin, jump, and perform tricks! But above all, control your speed : it’s the key to peak performance.
My roles.
• Game Designer
• 3C System Designer
• Programmer
• Animator

Our intention.
Our goal was to create a physics-based game with smooth 3C gameplay.
As ski enthusiasts, we aimed for a mix between Steep and Lonely Mountains: Downhill.
My Work

Tweaking 3Cs.
We made a lot of variables to tweak every aspects of the 3Cs. Tweaking was so important, with all this variables we manage to get the best gamefeel that fit our intentions.

Animation.
I use Cascadeur to create animations for this project.
Animations are crucial for achieving the best possible game feel, and creating my own is really useful for providing signs and feedback to the player.

To conclude
I’m really proud of the result of Powder. It’s only a 3C prototype, but I can already picture the final game.
Fun fact: we started development with a small team of four people, later adding a programmer and a 3D artist. After two months of prototyping and testing, we discovered that Megagon Industries (the studio behind Lonely Mountains: Downhill) had just announced Lonely Mountains: Snow Rider, which was almost the same concept. So, we decided to end the project.
